It starts very heavy almost like a gothic folk tale but it's almost like an immediate sunrise that follows and bathes the songs in golden hope or bleak sarcasm. I thought the last great band from Germany was Ton,Steine & Scherben, but I'm glad that Die Heiterkeit is finally picking up the dead torch and turn it into a beacon.

Es ist ja so: Mit dem ersten Album zeigt man, wer man ist, mit dem zweiten, dass man's ernst meint, und mit dem dritten, was man drauf hat. »Pop & Tod I+II« ist das, was man einen Wurf nennt, ein großes Werk, ein Meisterwerk. Man kann dieses Album lesen wie einen Roman, wahrscheinlich ist es ein Konzeptalbum, weil alles ineinandergreift und sich fortentwickelt, auf jeden Fall hat es so was noch nicht gegeben, nicht mit dieser Haltung in deutscher Sprache, und das, was es ist, brauchen wir gerade jetzt.
